Pavilion KL Concludes ‘The Beauty Of Raya’ With Record-Breaking ‘Most Number Of Ketupats Woven For Charity’
July 4, 2019
KUALA LUMPUR, 4 JULY 2019
Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s premier shopping destination, today commemorated the conclusion of its Hari Raya celebrations with the record-breaking achievement of weaving 20,000 ketupats to raise funds for charity. The ketupat, a symbol of Malaysian unity and the spirit of Hari Raya, was a beautiful representation of the mall’s campaign, aptly titled ‘The Beauty of Raya’, which is all about inclusiveness and bridging communities together to celebrate Hari Raya with charity at heart.
Pavilion KL broke the record once again in the Malaysia Book of Records by achieving the ‘Most Number of Ketupats Woven For Charity’, which received overwhelming support from the Pavilion KL community of partners, tenants, suppliers, shoppers and visitors. The colourful ketupats raised RM20,000 in funds after the mall pledged to donate RM1 to charity for every ketupat woven and collected during the campaign, as part of its festive CSR efforts.
The ceremony was attended by Dato’ Joyce Yap, CEO (Retail) of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur; Mr. Christopher Wong Hong Wai, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Book of Records; and 100 children from four charity organisations including Pusat Jagaan Cahaya Kasih Bestari, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Harapan, Yayasan Chow Kit and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Ehsan Ash-Shakur (PEKEAS). Guests were treated to a heart-warming performance from Cahaya Kasih Bestari before witnessing the presentation of the Malaysia Book of Records Certification. The four homes were then presented with a mock cheque of RM20,000, with each home receiving a donation of RM5,000, raised from ‘The Beauty of Raya’ CSR initiative. Guests and kids enjoyed refreshments at Johnny Rockets and a surprise visit to the new Marvel Studios: Ten Years Of Heroes Exhibition.
Says Dato’ Joyce, “Community engagement is in Pavilion KL’s DNA and plays a significant role in our festivities. Today we close ‘The Beauty of Raya’ celebrations in high spirits as we achieved our record goal of the 20,000 ketupats woven to raise RM20,000 to be donated to charity organizations need. This would not have been possible without the Pavilion KL community who played a role in our initiative so thank you all for your support.”
The ‘Beauty of Raya’ was a stunning celebration from the 9th of May until the 13th of June 2019 that welcomed visitors on a brilliant sensory journey with Maybank, Kiehl’s and Pandora as the official partners for the campaign.
